Stormwater

Our Services

"Prevent stormwater pollution". What does it mean?

Stormwater runoff pollution is the debris and contaminants carried off into our creeks and rivers by heavy rains. We call this sort of pollution, Non-Point Source (NPS) Pollution, or contamination with many imprecise origins. NPS includes chemicals, plastics, motor oils, soils and fertilizers and come from our streets, lawns, and farms. These contaminants deteriorate the quality of water – not just for humans – but for the fish and animals that depend on it.

Stormwater Division

In order to prevent stormwater pollution, our Stormwater division provides maintenance to the City’s storm sewer system by vacuuming out debris. Our division also regularly maintains creeks around the city to prevent them from becoming a nuisance.

This alone is not enough to ensure our water bodies stay clean. We need help from everyone in our community, which is why our division educates and involves people through outreach events.

Our Services

Creek Cleaning and Special Projects

In addition to our primary responsibilities, our division plays a crucial role in the meticulous upkeep of creeks throughout the city, ensuring they remain free from obstructions and maintain their ecological balance. Our dedication extends to the maintenance of ponds, guaranteeing they receive the necessary care and attention to uphold environmental standards.
